The Logistics Study Lab serves as the first e-learning platform for development, integration and testing of internet based, multimedia learning concepts at the Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg.

This concerns self learning, as well as team work processes. The technical plattform offers the possibility for an additional and alternative range of training methods supplemental to the traditional range of study courses.

After a complete redesign and refurnish the official opening of the Logistics Study Lab, located in the rooms 214 and 215 in building, took place on April 30, 2002. The study lab is equipped with high-class hard- and software and provides the Department of Logistics with a modern top quality educational plattform.

In december 2005 the computer equipment in the Logistics Study Lab was upgraded up-to-date.

The study lab serves solely for education and advanced training purposes at the Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg. It is promarily used for the following study courses:

  • Technical Logistics
  • Cultural Engineering (KWL) - logistic module 1-5
  • Cultural Engineering (KWL) module project management
  • Logistics waste managment
  • Logistics simulation
  • Logistics process analysis
  • Logistics system planning
  • Information logistics
  • Logistics process management
  • Logistics project seminar / Logistics Workshop
  • Transportation logistics

Furthermore the study lab serves

  • for the preparation of study courses,
  • for training purposes,
  • as a place to work on seminar papers, diploma theses, final master- and bachelor papers and
  • for the design and analysis of learning/teaching software.

The available software is based on the Microsoft Windows XP operating system and ranges from the Windows-Office-Professional package with the additional MS Visio and Project, software for mindmapping and for network thinking (holistic thinking), different authoring tools and e-learning plattform, the SAP graphical user interfaces to access the available SAP systems (IDES- and standard-) to specific software for route planning and logistcs system planning.
